The heat dissipation units of new energy vehicles mainly include power batteries, drive motors, and electronic control systems. From the perspective of traditional engine heat dissipation technology and the actual application effect of heat dissipation of new energy vehicles, water cooling and air cooling are the two most important ways of heat dissipation for new energy vehicles.

As the drive of a pure electric new energy vehicle, the motor can achieve extremely low or zero emissions. In the process of driving and recovering energy of pure electric vehicles, the stator core and stator windings of the motor will generate losses during the movement. These losses are radiated outward in the form of heat. Therefore, effective cooling media and cooling methods are required. Take away the heat to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the motor in a stable ventilation system with a stable cooling and heating cycle. The design of the motor cooling system will directly affect the safe operation and service life of the motor.


The motor that adopts the air-cooled heat dissipation method has its own coaxial fan to form an inner air circulation or an outer air circulation, and sufficient air volume is generated by the fan to take away the heat generated by the motor. The medium is the air around the motor, and the air is directly sent into the motor, absorbing heat and then removing it to the surrounding environment. The characteristics of air cooling are relatively simple structure, low motor cooling cost, but the heat dissipation effect and efficiency are not very good, the working reliability is poor, and the requirements for the weather and the environment are relatively high.


A motor that uses water cooling as a heat dissipation method will introduce the coolant into the stator or the hollow conductor of the rotor through pipes and passages. The circulating coolant flows continuously to take away the heat generated by the rotor and stator of the motor to achieve cooling of the motor. Purpose. Although the cost of water cooling is slightly higher than that of air cooling, its cooling effect is more significant than that of air cooling, and the heat dissipation is even, the efficiency is high, the working reliability is strong, and the noise is lower. As long as the entire device is guaranteed to have a good mechanical seal, it can be used in various environments.

The principle of water cooling for new energy vehicles:


The power battery and drive motor system are designed with water pipes reserved. When the driving motor is working, heat is generated, and the coolant flows through the water jacket to take away the heat and enter the radiator of the water tank. The radiator is integrated with the electronic fan. The electronic fan accelerates the heat dissipation of the water tank and cools the coolant to reach the normal operating temperature required by the drive motor. The cooling liquid that has passed through the heat flows through the drive motor again, cyclically.

1. The main function of the water tank radiator is to cool the coolant entering the chip. From the material, it is divided into copper water tank and aluminum water tank. From the internal structure, it is divided into plate-fin type, tube-belt type, and tube-sheet type.


2. Electronic fan. Different engine cooling systems, cooling fans for new energy vehicles all use electronic fans to dissipate heat. Different cooling systems have different electronic fans. Yili Technology¡¯s ATS motor cooling system can match one fan version and two fan versions according to the power of the drive motor. Under normal circumstances, the heat dissipation of the two electronic fans is sufficient for all pure electric vehicles commonly seen in the market. Since hybrid vehicles also have engines and turbocharger devices, they require more electronic fans, generally no more than six.


3. Electronic control system. The electric control system mainly includes fan controller, wiring harness, sensor, display, etc. Yili Technology ATS includes an electronic control system, but from the perspective of the market as a whole, not all new energy vehicle cooling systems have an electronic control system. 4. Electric water pump. The water pump is an indispensable component, and its main function is to provide the power for the circulation of the coolant. The circulation of the coolant between the drive motor and the electric control and the water tank radiator requires an electric water pump. Yili Technology ATS comes with its own electric water pump components, but some customers will choose the pump brand individually. From the overall stability of the system, we do not recommend this.
